Creative Glass Block Windows

Today I am looking at creative glass block windows.

When you think about glass block windows do you imagine a square, boring windows?  I came across these creative glass block windows by Zenteriors.  The pattern of these glass block windows remind me of a patchwork quilt.

Adorable Sailboat Wind chime

Today I am looking at an adorable glass Sailboat wind chime.

I saw this adorable glass sailboat mobile on Houzz this morning.  In following the links provided on Houzz, I found a fabulous Ideabook, Glass For Kids, by Maddie. SCORE! I love the collection.  Just click on the photo to view Maddie’s Glass For Kids Ideabook.

Bold Retro Kitchen

Today I am looking at a bold retro kitchen.

When I first looked at this photo, I wasn’t 100% sold on the colors.

The more I look at the colors, the more I feel that they work together in a very retro-y kind of way.

I read a comment on Houzz about this kitchen that said that they didn’t feel this kitchen was very practical.  I think this kitchen was designed to make it very practical for the homeowner.  The fact is, this homeowner might find your typical kitchen layout very unpractical for them.  I enjoy applaud celebrate the fact that this kitchen is unique and uses a shelf gallery to display the homeowners glass collection.

Dogwood Blossom Fused Glass Tile

Today I am looking at a fused glass tile wall.

This dogwood blossom fused glass tile wall is by Designer Glass Mosaics of Charlotte, NC.

65 (4″ x 12″) tiles installed on a curved wall over a bathtub. Tile backing custom color matched to the customers wall color.

I found a few close-up photos on Designer Glass Mosaics website.

IT IS FRIDAY!!!

Boy, this week really flew by quickly.  How does that happen?  Thanks to so many generous people for making me look forward to each day.  Did you ever watch the “Say Something Nice” videos?

This blog is my own version of say something nice.  I’m the girl telling the other girl that she likes her umbrella.  Except I do that about glass.  I tell the people that make beautiful things how much I like and appreciate it.

I hope you have a NICE weekend.  Why don’t you end your week by saying something nice to a person or a whole crowd.

If you would like to say something nice in public, you can share it here in a comment!  I’ll accept any nice comment as long as I feel it is appropriate and not too spammy to publish.  It will make us all smile 🙂

I’ll see you back here on Monday.

Upcycled Glass Flowers For Your Garden

Today I am looking at upcycled glass flowers for your garden.

We have looked at glass garden totems in the past.  This morning, I found this beautiful glass flower made by Mike Urban.

I was smitten.  I searched the web and could not find a website for Mike or The Cretaceous Garden.  I did find this slideshow of the flowers that Mike made with contact information listed in the credits.

CoD+A Awards

Today I am looking at the CoD+A Awards.

I spent a good part of yesterday looking at the top 100 projects listed for the coveted CoD+A Peoples Choice Awards.

The CoD+A Awards are presented by The Art Commission, an online platform that connects artists who create commission projects to those individuals, organizations, and corporations seeking commissioned art. The Art Commission focuses marketing efforts on design and art professionals who represent clients looking for site-specific artwork, but the website is open to any art lover who wants to find artists for unique, one-of-a-kind projects. Through The Art Commission website, its Installments newsletter and blog, the Company champions the importance of design collaborations in bringing creativity and beauty into the places where we live and work.

The Art Commission established the CoD+A Awards to celebrate design projects that demonstrate the most successful integration of commissioned art into interior or architectural spaces.

Top 100 projects shown below have been selected by our esteemed panel of jurors from 433 total submissions.

I heard that Paul Housberg had two projects that made the cut.  I went to the website and voted (“Liked”) Water Walk at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

Next thing you know, I am looking at all 100 projects.  There are some really, really great glass projects listed.  I read the rules and found that “You may vote only once for any project, but you may vote for as many projects as you like.” Woohoo!!!

Please visit the CoD+A Awards site and vote for all of the wonderful glass projects listed and encourage your friends to do the same.  By voting for our glass friends, you will recognize the creative skills and hard work of these artists.  Voting closes on June 30th, so hurry up!

Mirror Sculpture

Today I am looking at a mirror sculpture.

I’ve spent the morning watching videos of glass.  I have a hard time picking out just one that I want to share.  I struggle to find a video that I think is the right one to share.  I know that when I see “the one” I will know it.  After what seemed like hours of viewing, this little video popped up on my screen and I knew that this was the one that I wanted to share.  It is raw and personal and the mirror sculpture is beautiful.

Here is a companion video.

Colorful Kitchen

Today I am looking at a very colorful kitchen.

My buddy, Saffron, at Texas Lightsmith tipped me off to this colorful kitchen by Auckland, NZ kitchen and bath designer, Mal Corboy.

The Castor Bay kitchen is colorful and fun.  The walls by themselves would be fabulous but, the table base keeps drawing my attention.  Very clever.

Bronze Mirror

Today I am looking at bronze mirror.

The reflections from the bronze mirror on this outdoor staggered in Dehli, India wall is simply beautiful.  Bronze mirror exudes a warm glow making it perfect for an outdoor setting.
