I love this small glass tile mosaic mirror that I spotted yesterday at High Point Market.    Peninsula Home Collection Company was showing their Casablanca Mirror at High Point location SAMS G-2011.  Each tile has its own little picture making the mirror so interesting.  I was so interested in the tiles that I almost forgot that it was a mirror!

Repurposed Glass Table

Today I am looking at Elayne Lansford’s beautiful repurposed object garden.

Elayne Lansford’s garden stole my heart with her creative use of glass and rusty old objects.  I found out about Elayne’s garden on Pinterest and followed the photo to the Central Texas Gardener blog.

You all know by now that I am a real sucker when it comes to bottle trees.  Elayne has found all kinds of ways to display bottles and found glass items in her garden.  A new favorite project is a creative water feature that Elayne made out of an old glass table.

Admit it, didn’t you just try to think of where you might get your hands on an old table?

IT IS FRIDAY!!!

Spin Lights

Today I am looking at Spin Lights by Lucie Koldova for Lasvit.

Spin light’s expression of dynamics is based on a simple rotational form resembling a child’s toy known as the spinning top or the silhouettes of whirling dervishes.

Clear transparent airy lamps with a touch of color on top are powered by small LED efficient discs which highlighting strong silhouettes and let them float freely in the space as empty volumes.

St. Paul’s Stained Glass Shingles

Today I am looking at the renovation of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Seattle, WA.

Today marks another milestone for Looking At Glass.  I am happy to tell you that today, I am publishing the 700th post.  I know, I can’t believe it either.  Thanks to all of you for your kind words of encouragement.  I enjoy looking at beautiful glass and learning about the creative, talented people who make it all happen.  And most of all, I enjoy sharing with all of you.  I am looking forward to the next 700 posts.

Now, let’s take a look at St. Paul’s renovation…

I found this project listing on Arch Daily.  St. Paul’s windows previously had dated 1960’s window film on its windows.  The film was removed and art glass “shingles” were added. The shingles mimic the extensive copper shingles on the outside roof of the building.

Inside, new cast, resin-tinted art glass held by custom extruded aluminum clips frames new insulated glass units on the East and West walls replacing the visual clash and energy inefficiency of the existing glass.

The project also included a great looking storefront installation.  I didn’t include it in this post but, you can see the details over at ArchDaily.com.

Antique Glass Canes

Today I am looking at antique glass canes.  I saw an auction television show last night that showed antique glass walking canes.  I immediately knew that I had to search the internet to find more.

Cane7

Are they canes or walking sticks?  Either way, how versatile are these lovely canes?

Wall art?  A collection of these canes could be used as a wall art collection or as a display in a tall umbrella stand.

Take It Outside

Today I am looking at outside, colorful mosaic tile planters/benches by Susan Jablon Mosaics.

We designed and created these multi-colored subway mosaic planter/benches to brighten up a local park. Mosaic glass tiles add a finishing touch to indoor and outdoor projects. We love the bright warm colors in these glass tiles! What will you mosaic? A bench, planter, tabletop? The possibilities are endless!

I love the colors used for these planters.  I like the park setting but, I also think a project  like this would look great at an elementary school.
