Memorial Day

It is Memorial Day here in the US.   Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service.

This stained glass American flag is located at the The Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics in Lawrence, Kansas.  Housed on Kansas University’s West Campus, the Dole Institute broke ground in October 2001 and completed construction in July 2003.  The Institute building was designed by Kansas City architect Steve Abend, ASIA Architecture.  KU alumni Forrest and Sally Hoglund of Dallas, Texas, donated the flag window, each piece of which was designed, fired and assembled in America. It is thought to be the largest stained glass American flag in the world.

Note: Due to the holiday, I’m going to save the Monday Inspiration Challenge until next Monday.  If you did not submit a photo, you have until next Sunday to get me your photos.
